The two proposed applications are for outline planning consents with access in detail; one for up to 60 homes on land opposite the Royal London Campus to the west of Alderley Road; and one for up to 120 homes on the northern part of the Campus site on the east of Alderley Road.
Although the masterplans will be indicative at this stage in the planning process, a range of housing is envisaged to meet a variety of local needs, delivering the highest quality throughout in keeping with local character and styles and respecting the landscape and heritage strengths of the Campus. One and two bed apartments suitable for first time buyers, or residents seeking to downsize, as well as three and four bed homes for growing families and young professionals, are all expected to be part of the mix. Now we want to hear first-hand local views on our indicative plans for the provision of homes at the site, which is fully consistent with the latest Local Plan allocation of the site as well as the draft Development Framework recently consulted upon by Cheshire East Council.
The residential applications will bring new opportunities for current and future local residents to enjoy being outdoors. A new significant area of public open space is proposed on the west of Alderley Road, as are new playing fields for use by Wilmslow High School and those working on the campus, to be located north east of the existing office campus area. Overall, the residential quarter will form one part of a vibrant, mixed-use quarter in this location, offering a unique opportunity to bring lifestyle benefits to people living and working in the town. New and existing residents could gain access to a range of facilities to be developed over time, potentially including a new hotel, restaurants, small scale shopping, cafes, a gym/creche and outdoor fitness facilities. Although these community facilities do not form part of the forthcoming applications, feedback would be appreciated on what you would enjoy seeing and using at the Campus to guide future proposals.
